Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what birthdayhoroscope.org ("we", "us") collects when you use this website and the emails we send, why we collect it, and who helps us handle it. Birthday Horoscope works out your astrology readings from your birth details, so it asks for more than most sites do. This page tells you exactly what that is.
1. Information we collect
When you sign up for your reading we ask for:
- Your name and email address, to address your reading and to send you the emails described in section 3.
- Your full date of birth, your time of birth and your place of birth (the town or city). From the place we also look up its map coordinates and time zone. These details are what your birth chart, your readings and your forecasts are calculated from.
When you pay, checkout runs on Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. We receive your email address and whether your subscription is active.
When you send someone a reading from the gift page, you give us their name and email address, your name and your message. We use these to send that one email. Please only send a reading to someone you know who would want it.
When you sign in, we set one cookie that keeps you signed in on this website. We send you a sign-in link and code by email; there is no password.
On your device, this website keeps your birth details and your language choice in your browser's storage, so your reading opens without asking for them again. Signing out removes the birth details from that browser.
Session recording on the reading page. On the page that shows your reading (and nowhere else on this website), we use PostHog to record how the page is used: what is shown, where you scroll and what you click. We watch these recordings to find and fix problems. Anything you type into a form field is masked and never recorded. What the page itself shows can appear in a recording, and that includes your name, your birth date, time and place, and your reading.
Technical information. Like any website, the services that serve these pages see your IP address and basic browser information when a page loads.
We do not collect payment card numbers, and we do not use advertising trackers.
2. How we use your information
- To calculate and show your birth chart, readings and forecasts.
- To run your account and subscription and to sign you in.
- To send the emails described in section 3, including the readings you send to friends.
- To find and fix problems with the reading page (session recording).
- To honour unsubscribe requests and to keep our emails deliverable.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Emails
Some emails are about your account, and we send them whether or not you have unsubscribed from anything else: the sign-in link and code you ask for, the welcome email when your subscription starts, and the email telling you a payment did not go through. These do not carry an unsubscribe link.
Every other email carries an unsubscribe link. That includes your horoscope emails, reminders, invitations to send a reading to someone, and the reading a friend sends you. Following the link stops that kind of email.
4. Who helps us handle your information
We share personal information only with the service providers who run parts of the service for us, and only what each one needs:
- Stripe handles checkout, payments and billing.
- PostHog provides the session recording on the reading page. Recordings are stored in the United States.
- Cloudflare hosts this website. Before you sign up or send a reading, we also ask Cloudflare's public DNS whether the email address's domain can receive mail. Only the domain, the part after the @, is sent.
- Amazon Web Services runs our servers, where your account and birth details are stored.
- Resend delivers our emails.
- Open-Meteo powers the birth place search. The text you type into the place field is sent to it to find the matching town or city.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces, so your browser fetches them from Google.
Some of these providers are in the United States, so your information may be processed outside the country you live in.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account and birth details for as long as you have an account with us. Session recordings are deleted automatically after a limited period. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a list so that we can keep honouring your choice.
6. Your choices and rights
- You can correct your birth details at any time from your reading page.
- You can unsubscribe from any email that has an unsubscribe link.
- Signing out removes your birth details from the browser you used.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to see the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how we use it. To ask, email us at the address in section 9.
7. Security
The connection to this website is encrypted, and the cookie that keeps you signed in cannot be read by the page's own scripts. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we take reasonable care.
8. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when what we collect or how we use it changes, and change the "Last updated" date at the top.
